The story of Claire Heiberger

I'm writing out all my stories that lead them to getting accepted into camp A.X.I.O.M. Each camper had some sort of thing that made their life terrible, some worse than other's. This is Claire's story and I feel like it's one of the saddest...

Claire’s life didn’t take a turn for the worse till she was around two years old. Her father had come home and had a fight with her mother. No violence took place but it ended with her father leaving, never to return. Her mother, a complete wreck, went out a lot, leaving Claire home alone. One day her mom eventually started to bring a strange man home with her every night. Soon, they got married. A year after, Claire now three years old, the man began to come home drunk and soon he would beat his wife and stepchild with broken alcohol glasses. Claire’s mother would try and take most of it, but Claire would still get hurt. Her mother tried to get the police involved but the man said that if she did so, he’d murder Claire. So, two more years passed by with her mother getting beaten with the occasional rape, which soon lead to her having a baby. When the baby, Maxwell, was born the step father was furious. He yelled at him, telling him to “shut the f*** up!”. One night he even threw the baby. Claire’s mother was so broken, mentally and physically, that she couldn’t stop the man. So Claire ran towards the baby boy, rushed upstairs to her room, walked out of her window and onto the roof and waited for the babe to stop crying. “You’re safe now,” she’d whisper to it. Poor five year old Claire was from then on in charge of protecting her brother. When she was seven, her brother two, their mother passed away and the evil man disappeared. They we put into an orphanage, unable to find Claire’s real father. They’d stay there till two letters came. Letters that changed their lives forever…

Yes, it's kind of short but that's because it's just a rought draft.
